Strategic Technology & Innovation Management Department Chair

Dr. Bernhard Koelmel teaches and researches in the field of future-oriented technologies, products and solutions at the interface of sustainable management (foresight, technology and market roadmapping, technology transfer, innovation management, business design and business models) and technological potentials (cloud, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, metaverse, blockchain, etc.). He advises companies (technology companies, hidden champions) on their future initiatives.

After his studies and doctorate at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Dr. Koelmel worked for a long time in management in the field of strategy, innovation and business design of leading technology companies and start-ups e.g. in Silicon Valley. He coordinates numerous international research and development projects in the field of the networked world. Dr. Koelmel works as a consultant and expert for national and international ministries, the European Commission and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Bernhard Koelmel represents the teaching area Global Process Management at Pforzheim University (School of Engineering), is responsible for accreditation activities (national and international, e.g. AACSB) and is a member of the University Council.
